Quality Sport Planes, LLC is an independent California-based company founded in early 2005, whose mission is to inform and support builders of kit-built planes by Zenith Aircraft Company, as well as pilots and soon-to-be pilots entering the exciting new world of Light Sport Aircraft. From introductory demonstration flights through to kit assembly and flight instruction, our goal is to be available and to assist clients each step of the way.

Quality Sport Planes, LLC is the west coast, regional representative for airplane kits manufactured by Zenith Aircraft Company of Missouri. Quality Sport Planes, LLC will demonstrate and display Zenith’s popular Sport-Pilot-Ready kit-planes at fly-ins and air-shows in the West as well as at our Sonoma County facilities.

Michael Heintz is our General Manager, also in charge of demo flights and sales. Michael, son of Chris Heintz (designer of the Zodiac XL and the STOL CH701), started flying as a teenager and by the early eighties, was giving flight instruction in open-cockpit ultralights. Michael will be the first person you encounter when calling or e-mailing Quality Sport Planes. He'll know about kit delivery schedules and will also help coordinate Builder Assistance programs.

Quality Sport Planes, LLC is located on the
85 miles north of San Francisco. Our facilities include 4000 sq.ft. of hangar and office space.
Visitors are welcome by car and by air!

Ken Lanham loves aviation and homebuilding in particular. He is a long-time pilot and active local EAA member. Ken lives here in Cloverdale and currently flies a beautifully finished Lancair; he brings the same meticulous care and attention to detail to all projects he is invoved with. Ken is available for Builder Assistant projects with special emphasis on QBK airframe assemblies.

Ed Dalbec's life-long passion as well as occupation has been General Aviation. Not only is Ed an esteemed local A&P, but as a long-time flight instructor (CFII, MEI), he used to offer flight instruction right here in Cloverdale only a few years ago... Ed is now available on most weekends for Builder Assistant projects with special emphasis on Zodiac XL airframe assemblies and engine installations.

Bob Archibald is owner and manager of Dragonfly Aviation, California's oldest and most successful flight training center north of San Francisco. Bob is excited about the new Sport Pilot category and every one of his instructors is qualified to teach Sport Pilot students. Dragonfly Aviation now uses the Zodiac XL as its Light Sport trainer and will have one for rental in early 2007. Call Bob for all your training, transitional and Flight review needs.

Paul Reinders is the friendliest, most enthusiastic pilot you could ever meet.
Now retired, he still flies every chance he gets. Paul (a CFI) is an FAA safety counsellor and was one of the first FAA designated fight examiners on the west coast for Light Sport. We are now working closely with Paul (who has his own STOL CH 701 based in Alaska) & who has already signed off numerous pilots on the CH 701. Paul is available for check-rides, insurance check-outs, bi-annual flight reviews, float endorsements, etc. in any of the Zenith Aircraft models.

Doug Dugger and his wife Lori fly the Zodiac XL they built together extensively throughout the region. They just love their plane! Doug, a master auto mechanic by trade, has been involved in recreational aviation in Sonoma County for over 25 years. He heads our STOL CH 701 Jump-Start Kit program from Rancho Tahema, a nearby flying community that he also manages. You'll meet Doug at all our major events and at most of the fly-ins we participate in.

Eric Peterson has an extensive background in building homebuilt aircraft. Having completed and flown numerous popular models (including his own design), he knows it when "things are done right". We are very fortunate to have Eric, a long-time Cloverdale resident, share his skills and expertise with participants in our various workshops and builder-assist programs.

Last on this page - but certainly not least at QSP - is Lori Dugger, our smiling greeter and front-office magician. Not only does Lori make us look good (organized office, current customer files, fresh coffee, name tags, etc.) but based on her and her husband's experience with their own Zodiac XL, she is now also developing a great line of Zodiac Accessories.
