Our Grand Opening and First Open House: Welcome!
Altghough we had the season's first rain the previous night, the clouds had cleared by mid-morning and we had sunny skies for the rest of the celebration. Over 300 people came through in the course of the day, to look at the airplanes (Zodiac XL and STOL CH 701), inspect the rudder kits being assembled and to enjoy the BBQ. All in all a great time was had by all.
Nicholas Heintz was with us from Missouri with the factory demo Zodiac XL. As mentioned in the article above, Nicholas flew numerous demo flights during the day. He had been with us during the previous week, offering eagerly awaited demo flights to potential clients and to builders. Nicholas was also instrumental in the success of the rudder workshop scheduled that same Friday and Saturday. Many thanks Nick!
The event provided an opportunity for regional pilots and enthusiasts to see what Quality Sport Planes was all about, as well as to catch up on any developments with the new Light Sport Aircraft category. Adding to the camaradery of the event, delicious burgers, hotdogs and drinks were served by Christopher and Annie Desmond of Sebastopol, and Art Beer of Cloverdale served up dozens of bowls of his well-known and appreciated "Homebuilder's Chili". Parachute jumpers from the club next door were doing their thing all day, much to the delight of the younger crowd.
