Quality Sport Planes at Arlington!
We were there, for the rain as well as the sunshine! Sharing a display area with Zenith Aircraft Company and the regional distributor for Sportsplanes.com, we had the factory Zodiac XL as well as a STOL CH 701 as part of our exhibit.
Joe Edwards from Seattle flew in with his Zodiac XL every day to volunteer and contribute to the smooth running of the show.
Ben Masengil from Sweet Home, Oregon, is the regional distributor for Sportsplanes.com. Ben flew his STOL CH 701 to the Arlington Airshow and offered demo flights in his Rotax 912S powered kitplane. The local Sportsplanes.com agent is Dave Wheeler, located at Paine Field.

It was great meeting so many current builders at the show. We had Joe Edwards fly in every day with “Georgia Belle”, his Jabiru-powered Zodiac XL; David Smith also joined us with his well- traveled CH 701 (above, right). The yellow STOL CH 701 belonging to Ben Masengil flew almost every day, offering introductory flights. Nicholas Heintz flew the red and white Zodiac XL in from Missouri, gave demo flights and answered numerous technical questions throughout the show.
Interest in Zenith kits is at an all-time high. Many pilots are relieved to realize there’s an aircraft like the Zodiac XL to fly with the sport pilot license: comfort, visibility, useful load and great cruise speed are all impressive… Others continue to be blown away by the spectacular performances of the STOL CH 701!
The Jabiru-powered factory Zodiac XL flown in from Missouri by Nicholas Heintz. Nick described the 15 hour flight as uneventful but over awesome scenery!
