For years, Roger and Nicholas have been attending the annual Copperstate Fly-in in Arizona. Every September, they prepare the Zenith factory demonstration aircraft for the long journey there and back. This year was no exception: Roger flew the faithful eight-year-old STOL CH 701 and Nicholas flew the newer Jabiru-powered Zodiac XL.

Roger brough back pictures showing his GPS indicating less than 40 mph ground-speeds for much of his west-bound trip. The high winds lasted through most of the show, but despite the dust, Roger offered a number of demo flights during the fly-in. His Rotax engine passed its 800 hour mark on this trip, with little more than regular oil changes. He was happy to report that the trip home was much quicker...
Nicholas also offered a number of demonstration flights to prospective Zodiac builders at Copperstate.
After the show, he continued west to Cloverdale, California where he attended the Grand Opening of Quality Sport Planes, the official representative of Zenith Aircraft on the West Coast. He stopped in Fresno, CA on his way and inspected a just completed Zodiac XL there; then led the first of Zenith-style rudder workshop in the west.
Michael, with QSP, joined Roger and Nicholas in Casa Grande for the fly-in, then accompanied Nicholas in the Zodiac for the flight back to Cloverdale. Once back, he coordinated the Open House, Grand opening events and the logistics for the Rudder Workshop. Nicholas was also kept busy flying demo flights every day while in California.
(and on tour in the west...)
The above STOL CH 701, owned and flown by Ken Smalley, arrived at Copperstate by air for the airshow, proudly displaying Arizona colors. It is powered with the Rotax 912S.
